Meisselbach Gogebic Trout Reel

A. F. Meisselbach introduced the Amateur series of reels in 1886, retailing them through A. G. Spalding of New York and cataloging them as the Gogebic reel. According to the Gogebic County, Michigan, website, the word Gogebic is derived from the Chippewa Native American word Agogebic, which translates to “where the trout make rings upon the water.”
