Hendryx Competitor

The Andrew B. Hendryx Company was one of the largest manufacturers of fishing reels in its day; by 1897, the Hendryx catalog listed 175 sizes and styles of fishing reels. The Competitor was the least expensive reel in the Hendryx line, retailing for about 25 cents. Most of these reels probably saw service as boys’ reels, and were simply screwed or taped to the butt of a cane pole.
