We understand fly fishing is a past time…a hobby…a way to enjoy nature. But it’s so much more, isn’t it? It’s the memories, the state of mind – it’s the feeling. Most would agree that there are moments on the water they wish they could freeze in time. But not to worry, that’s what we are here for. Not only are we preserving the artifacts (rods, reels, photos, documents, etc.), but we are telling the stories, and most importantly we are sharing that feeling.
History is made every day and we stand behind our mission when we say that we are the steward of the sport. 2017 holds much excitement as it will be our year of digital transition. We recognized that in order to engage new and long-distance supporters, the use of digital technology is mandatory. Though we have made huge advances in the last few years via online exhibits, a true social media presence, a new website, and the very welcome addition of providing digital access to our Journal, we are ready for the next step: digitizing our entire collection. We began fundraising for this important component earlier this year and plan to begin work in 2017!
Your support makes it all possible: collections care, first rate exhibitions, public programs, production of our Journal, and our increasing effort to provide access to the history of fly fishing through every avenue possible – Thank you! And thank you for supporting the Museum’s 2016 Annual Appeal.
