Celebrating AMFF's 50th Anniversary

The 11th annual AMFF Fly Fishing Festival returns to beautiful Manchester, VT on August 11th this year from 10 am until 4 pm. This is our signature event of the summer—a growing event that showcases the joy of fly fishing with vendors, demonstrations, and a gathering of people who are all equally enthused about the sport. Come enjoy fly tying and casting demonstrations, try your hand at casting vintage rods, learn how to tie a saltwater fly, and mingle with like-minded people as you share the taste and joy of the great outdoors.

The Museum will also be presenting a booth about artist and writer Jack Atherton and his wife Maxine. Jack and Maxine’s granddaughter, writer Catherine Varchaver, and The Founding Flies author Mike Valla will staff the booth. Copies of Catherine’s book on Maxine, The Fly Fisher and the River, and Jack Atherton's book, The Fly and the Fish, will be available to purchase.

Keep checking our event page for updates on vendors, guest fly fishing and fly tying instructors, performers, and much more.

Live Music

Enjoy Kelly Ravin's blue collar sound as you walk around the festival.

Kelly Ravin

Kelly Ravin plays gritty rock and roll. Equally at home in backcountry bars & big city clubs, his skills as an instrumentalist are outshadowed only by his gifts as a songwriter. Raised in rural Maine and residing in Vermont, Ravin rose to prominence as a driving force behind Waylon Speed, an “underground outlaw dirt rock” band the Washington Post called “a cross between Metallica and the Lumineers, with an unnecessary dash of Prince showmanship.” Glide Magazine and Seven Days provided probably-better touchstones, comparing the band to My Morning Jacket, Waylon Jennings, and Motörhead. The band hit the road hard, sharing the stage with acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, My Morning Jacket, Junior Brown & Futurebirds.

As members of Waylon Speed shifted focus to other endeavors, Ravin focused on his solo work. His music finds itself squarely in the rock and roll tradition, with early influence from acts like The Drive By Truckers and Steve Earle; and modern resonance with the alt-country resurgence led by Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell and others.
